My Digital Studio---easy gift

This is an 8x10 collage I made for my sister as a gift.  I love how quick I was able to make a gift using MDS!  I printed it at the local CVS where I also bought a frame.  And she loved it!

last simply soft

When I made this card I had everything done but the sentiment with the label punch, it was a very blank card but I loved it.  I hadn't decided what the focal point would be yet so I decided on a simple sentiment.  I think it turned out pretty nice.

simply soft 3

You can see a theme.  When I stamp I like to make at least for colors using the same color scheme and stamp set.  That saves me time, because what takes me the longest is picking my color scheme.

Another simply soft

When the new catalog came out in July I pulled out all of my retired stamp sets and accessories and realized that I have very few neutral colored ribbons.  So one of the first things I put on my wish list was this beautiful crumb cake taffeta ribbon.  It's very luxurious :)

Simply Soft

I think this stamp set is beautiful.  I remember when I first stared using Stampin' UP! products I was drawn to all the 2-step stamping stamp sets.  I still love the look!  It's simply beautiful.

Yesterday's Trash is Today's Sunflower

Remember the scalloped punch I punched on yesterday's card to create the window?  Well I used it on this card to create the sunflower!  This is a great use of scraps!

Oldie but a goodies

I've realized I've been stamping awhile when I start to see trends come and go...then come back again.  I love the window, peek a boo card, or donut card or whatever you choose to call it.  It makes a quick easy wow!  Punch any shape out of the front of your card then decorate the inside.  I used basic black and soft subtles on this card.  I colored the stamp with my markers so that I could get all the different colors on one stamp.

Quilted background

The background of this card was made by adhearing the punched circles onto the pink pirouette paper, then I ran it through the big shot using the polka dot embossing folder, then a second time using the striped embossing folder.  I was very happy with the look...it reminds me of fancy wallpaper :)  The stamp is from the "Play on Words" stamp set.

Black & Subtles

I love the look of the soft subtles with a bit of basic black.  The polka dot scalloped ribbon is beautiful.  I think it will replace my black and white gingham ribbon that I've missed so much :)

remember today is the last day to order the August Card Kit!!  Call or email me.

buttons!!!!

This kit also shows my love for buttons.  They are one of my favorite accesories...so easy to use, and they add a big wow!

Remember order this $15 card kit by August 15th!

you NEED markers!!!!

I think markers are the one stamp tool that I use all the time!  I don't know what I would do without them.  When I went to the all day scrapbooking on Saturday I took my markers and one black stamp pad...and it did everything I needed.  Including putting mutiple colors on one stamp.  I also used the marker to create faux stitching.

This one might be my favorite!

I love the look of all the punched flowers, the simple embossed background!

card kits...back by popular demand

I love the best of everything stamp set as soon as I saw it in the catalog...but after playing with it I love it even more.  So I made a card kit with it.  I haven't offered a kit in awhile, but I've had some requests so here you go.

Cost is $15 for the supplies to make 8 cards, 2 of each design.  The kit includes pre-cut paper and embellishments, envelopes and of course directions.

What do you need to complete the projects?  Markers or stamp pad, Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette, Concord Crush.  You will also need a paper piercer and adhesive...I recommend glue dots for the buttons. Of course you also need a stamp set...if you haven't already purchased "Best of Everything" stamp set...you could use a set that you already have.

Please order the kit by August 15th.  You can pick up your kit from my house, or I can mail it to you for an additional $5.

Happy stamping!!

a couple more of MDS

I know I told you that I would post card projects this week...and I do have several samples that I made at the all day craft event on saturday but I haven't taken pictures of them yet.  Sorry.  Today was the first day of school...I was a bit preoccupied :)

So here are a couple more pages from My Digital Studio.  I'm happy to say that in a two week time period I was able to complete my 2009 scrapbook.  That has got to be a record for me!  I've already started organizing my 2010 pictures and the idea that I will have 2010 done before the end of 2011 is incredible.

I really love being able to use all the buttons I want...it's an exhilarating feeling :)

Made my own background paper!

I used stamps to great a background on this page...just like you would on a regular page...except that I could make the stamps bigger or smaller!  And to make my life easier I did half the page...grouped the circles then copied the group to the other side and did the same with the second page.

arrange...group...copy...paste

Okay I learned something new again...

After I created the pink and black flower I was able to "group" them.  Then I could move them on the page together.  It made it so much easier to get them exactly where I wanted them on the page.  Of course I do 2 page spreads so I wanted that flower on the other page too...so copy and paste!

Fill the photo box with designer paper

I had a lot of pictures from the Easter Egg hunt at my Mom's so I used a photo template that had lots of already arranged photo boxes.  I filled most with pictures but left a few empty and filled with designer paper.  I didn't use cardstock or designer paper for the background.  I left it white because I thought it would be too busy otherwise.  I then used the boxes with designer paper to add my embellishments.

Oh and you want to know how I made the cool heart with buttons....I used the heart punch and enlarged it to the size I wanted.  Then I put the buttons all around it, once I had it the way I wanted it I deleted the heart punch and was left with the button heart outline.

Another thing I love about MDS...I would never have done the button heart because it would be too bulky and too expensive...put I can use as many embellishments in MDS as I want without extra cost!!

This is a great time to stock up on paper!

Paper strips made with punches...

I love the look of scraps of paper behind the pictures to make a background but was having a hard time resizing the paper...so I found a you tube video that showed how to use a punch and make it what size you want then paper fill!  So easy!  I'm really loving My Digital Studio...I'm regretting not having played more with it when I first got it.

Just a reminder this Saturday is my all day scrap booking/crafting day...RSVP by Thursday!

and for those of you who are wondering when I'm going to start posting cards again...that will be next week.  I plan on working on samples for upcoming classes on Saturday at the all day event so I should have lots to show you next week!

Well I've made it to April....

One thing I love about scrapbooking is that I feel like I get to relive everything that happened that year...for these pages I played with "page layers"  and practicing sizing the photo boxes the way I want them.

I was a little intimidated

Stampin' UP! had a great online resource for My Digital Studio...http://mydigitalstudio.net/

Last night I was looking through all of the great samples and thought "I can't do this!  My pages look so simple and boring compared to some of these."  But then I realized that is what many of my customers say about designing their own cards...and in fact it's what I said 9 years ago when I first started stamping.  When I think about my first cards...wow, they are laughable.  But through practice and imitation...I learned.  And so that is what I've decided to do with MDS.  I found one part of a page that I wanted to learn how to do, and encorporated it into my spread.  Last night it was inserting a picture into a punch.

I think it turned out pretty good!

My Digital Studio

I have had My Digital Studio for almost 2 years.  I love it...when I use it.  But like many other "new" things I don't use it enough to get really good at it.  So I've decided to do my 2009 Family scrapbook using MDS.  The benefit is that I can sit down and do a spread and walk away...without a mess!  My goal is 10 spreads for the month of August.

This is a simple 2 page spread using stamps, text, punches.  Not a lot of page layers or accessories...all get to that on another spread :)
