the rule of three

]This card is one that we made at the stamp-a-stack last Sunday. This is one of the simplest layouts for a card. When I have a creativity block this is the layout I always go to. When designing a card you can use the rule of three. Three repeating images make a great focal point. This works well for small images.

Snow Swirled Bling

Okay this has a lot of bling on it!! This is the first time I used this stamp set since last Christmas. It was my favorite last year and this year I really struggled with what to do with it, does that every happen to you?
I really love all the bling, not a very cost effective Christmas card but a really cute one!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I saw this idea last year and I loved it. I punched several colors of green cardstock using the three flower punch and made them into a wreath. I've seen this same thing done with snowflake or flower stamps. It's a great way to use something you've already got and make your own Christmas cards.
I have decided that this needed a red ribbon so after taking the phone I tied a red bow and adhered it to the wreath with a glue dot.

Non Traditional Colors for Christmas

I really love the traditional red and green for the holidays but sometimes you have to play with different shades of red and green and different colors all together.
I love how the stamp from the hostess set fits perfectly into the ornament punch. The stamp is really easy to color with markers so you can get multiple colors on one stamp.

Kim's workshop

This is the thank you gift I gave Kim for hosting a workshop. It's made with the topnote die. I cut down a paper sack and adhered the topnote to each side. Then punched a hole in the top to tie a ribbon. The stamp I used is from upsy daisy and I colored it with markers (I do love my markers!).

This is the card we made for our make & take. simple Christmas card that is easy to duplicate! Have you figured out that I love Dasher!

There are round buttons as well as the very cool buttons I used here from button bouquet. There is vanilla and silver hodgepodge hardware as well as colored brads. You will notice I also added stitching below the ribbon, you can add straight stitches or zigzag.
All of these options and many more come with the My Digital Studio software. It includes over 60 stamp sets that cover all major holidays and events.
I'm having so much fun playing with this I hope you can tell :)

Scrapbooking with my own design

Here's a page I made for this year's Halloween. There are three design options when creating a scrapbook page one is the designer, which is what I showed you yesterday. Paper, stamps and embellishments are all on there. Another option is to start with a blank page. There is a middle option which is what I used. It gives you the photo layouts and ideas where to but text. I put in the background paper and the stamps.
One question I have received was "What fonts come with the software?" The answer is none. It uses the fonts that are already on your computer, so you can use all of your favorites. On this project I used an alphabet stamp set to create the title.
My Digital Studio Workshop Wednesday Nov 18th at 6:30 my house, please RSVP

Digital Scrapbook Page--made with Designer Kit

Today I'm showing you a 12 x 12 scrapbook page that I made in minutes. Why was I able to make it so fast? Because I used one of the many designer kits. This feature is great for a Theme albums. The software has pages already designed and all you have to do is drop in the pictures. You can choose from several different designer kits that are based off of the simply scrappin kits that we all love. Happy Birthday is one option, so is Christmas Jingle, Baby boy and Baby girl just to name a few.
One of the features I love is Auto fill. You pick the photos that you want in the album, the pages are already made for you with photo boxes and embellishments. If you select Auto fill, your pictures get put into all the photo boxes and you are done. Okay you might have a little tweaking to do with centering photos in the box. I think this is a great idea for your vacation albums, you'll get them done in a snap!
My Digital Studio Workshop on Wednesday Nov 18th at 6:30! Please RSVP

My Digital Studio sample 1

Remember I said I was going to be posting samples made with my digital studio all week. Well today is a card I made while planning for my Christmas Card stamp-a-stack (which is Monday the 16th at 6:30 there's still room if you want to come just let me know). This is the layout and paper of a card that we will be making however at the stamp a stack we are using the Dasher stamp because I don't have the Winter post stamp set. I wanted to see what this card would look like with a different stamp set so I started playing in My Digital Studio. How awesome is this that I can play with stamps I don't own because they are in My Digital Studio!!
The software comes loaded with stamp sets, punches, designer series paper, ribbon, brads and many more. You will also be able to add to this great selection with optional downloads of new stamp sets and accessories.
I will be having a My Digital Studio workshop at my house on Wednesday November 18th at 6:30. There is no charge and you'll get to see how easy this software is.
Let me know if you have any questions about the My Digital Software this week and I'll try to get them answered during my ALL Digital week!

Halloween Weekend

We had a fun filled Halloween weekend at my house. If you live on the eastside of Indianapolis and have never been to the Irvington Halloween Festival you are missing a lot of fun. This has been a tradition in my family for many many years. The Festival was Saturday but there are activities going on all week. The kid's favorite is of course the costume contest, and then walking in parade. This year Caleb and Emma went has Herbie, the Love Bug. I'm very happy that they think outside the box for their Halloween costumes. Well I guess this year they thought inside the box (ha ha!). The best part was that they could split in half and walk around someone the way Herbie does in the movie!

We had over 100 trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood, we ended up taking candy the Caleb and Emma had collected and giving some of it away when we ran out of candy. I think our big pumpkin drew a few extra kids.

On Sunday we had a surprise birthday party for my Mom and to our surprise, she was really surprised. I figured she knew and was just playing along but we did surprise her. It was a great but busy weekend!

November Already!

Wow I can't believe it's November already. (We had a fun filled Halloween weekend, I'll show you pictures tomorrow). Now, it's time to start planning for Christmas. I'm not someone who skips Thanksgiving, but if I wait until after Thanksgiving to make plans then I don't enjoy the Christmas season because I'm too busy. I encourage you to start making a list of gifts you are going to make and buy. To help with that Stampin' Up! has come out with a gift giving guide. This guide gives ideas for kids, teens, neighbors and friends. And the best part is that if you spend $50 on products in the guide then you can pick a $16.95 Decor Element for FREE. You can keep it or give that has a gift as well.

Click HERE to view the Gift Giving Guide.

And of course you can find out more about this promotion, and others going on right now by going to my Stampin' UP! Website.

Lovely as a tree--Fall

The top card was water colored using a misting technique. Color directly on the stamp using markers then spray or mist water onto the stamp and then stamp onto watercolor paper. It's amazing how all the colors blend. Any water color technique makes me feel like a real artist!
I love to make my own pattern paper, sometimes it's so pretty I don't want to cover it up. So on this card I let the paper be the focal point. You could easily add a sentiment on this if you'd like.

Build a Bear Dies--wow so much fun!

There are so many wonderful things in the Holiday mini that I haven't been able to play with all of them yet. I've finally had a chance to play with the Build-a-bear dies. If you loved paper dolls as a child you will love these! So quick and simple to make. I didn't add any background or additional accessories to these cards and I still think these are as cute as can be. I know my kids will love making their own thank you cards or birthday cards with these! I used white confetti cardstock as the card base.
Here's a fun idea: Cut and score several pieces of confetti white cardstock, add envelopes cut bears in different colors, then cut lots of clothes using your scraps. Give that has a gift to your child to make their own cards!
